OUR HISTORY

Serendipity Children’s Center was the dream of two friends and schoolteachers in 1985. They taught and ran the program until 1987. Dan and Lynnette McCarty purchased Serendipity Children’s Center in 1990. At that time, licensed capacity was 63 children ages six months to age five.

Over the past years, there have been many changes and much growth, while maintaining superb quality and reputation. The growth has been a part of the center’s history. Serendipity is currently licensed to serve 170 students ranging from ages one to ten. Dan and Lynnette have provided continued growth by increasing space, improving the quality of curriculum, and staying current with the early care and education trends. Their goal to insure that the children served are receiving what they need for a successful ongoing educational process. They remain committed to providing a place of growth and development and a place where children can feel at home.

OUR STAFF

We take great pride in our professional staff, their qualifications, credentials and their ability to work together to maintain a safe, nurturing and productive environment for your child.

Serendipity’s philosophy fosters consistent up to date training for our staff. We want our clients to be assured that the children at Serendipity are receiving the best education and care possible. To maintain our high quality environment, an early childhood credential (CDA) is the required goal of each of our Lead staff. Each staff member works with our leadership to create a pathway toward obtaining their educational goals. All permanent staff obtains the mandated STARS training which includes a twenty clock hour class offering an overview of the knowledge necessary to work with young children. This registry is set forth by the State of Washington and the Department of Early Learning.

Serendipity provides the staff an annual retreat, where as professionals they are paid to learn. This venue helps to insure that they are receiving the fifteen hours of required annual training. The State requires ten hours annually and Serendipity requires an additional minimum of five. We take pride in the professionalism and the education of our staff.

Our goals also include building strong relationships with parents to insure a positive connection and allow your child to receive the best care while they are with us.
